Portraits & Enhancements

Individual Side Composition

I placed the subject to the side of the screen, following the rule of thirds. I zoomed in to create a nice background blur. I made a quick adjustment to the levels in Photoshop.

Individual Head & Shoulders

This is my little brother. I shot this in the same photo shoot as his full body shot. I zoomed in to crop his body and create a background blur at the same time. I changed the levels in an adjustment layer.

Individual Full Body

This is my brother’s full body shot. It was getting pretty dark outside, so it created a blue-like filter. I edited the levels, contrast and brightness in an adjustment layer in Photoshop.

Group Candid

My little sisters were washing dishes together and I decided to capture the moment. I love that they can always make each other laugh. It was a little difficult to make sure that sun from the window didn’t wash them out and create a strange halo around their heads. I decided to compose the image so that they were on the side of the frame.  I placed a warm filter over the top after changing the brightness and levels.

Individual Environment

This is an image of an artist in her nook. The colors were beautiful, but I think that the black and white filter adds some kind of serenity to the image. The colors were all so bright, but the filter seems to contain the distracting colors and focus our eyes on the artist herself.

Portrait Enhancements

I whitened her teeth and brightened her eyes using Lightroom. It was my first time using Lightroom, and I am loving it. I then opened up the image in Photoshop and changed the levels, brightness and contrast in an adjustment layer.

Color Match

I loved the image of the artist in her environment and based this image off of the dark greys and soft whites. I used the dodge and burn tool to put more definition around the muscles. I also used the clone tool to cover the power box in the background.

Color Change

I changed the color of his shirt to a brighter, royal blue. I wanted to use red to match the building in the background, but it looked awkward on a black sweater. This was my first time using the color replacement tool  and I will definitely be taking advantage of it.
